Exploring Custom-Made Depots in Louisiana DLC for American Truck Simulator
Hey there, truckers! It's me, diving back into the vibrant world of American Truck Simulator to share some exciting details about the upcoming Louisiana DLC. Today, I’m thrilled to talk about the custom-made depots that SCS Software has crafted for us to haul cargo to and from in the Pelican State. These aren’t your run-of-the-mill prefabs—our map designers have poured their creativity into assembling unique depots using a variety of assets, each with its own distinct vibe and a nod to real-world inspiration. Let’s take a closer look at five of them: three farms and two timber harvest depots.
Louisiana’s economy has deep roots in agriculture, though its role has evolved over time. While farming once dominated, today only a small percentage of residents work the land, with production centered on large farms along the Mississippi River. These farms churn out a diverse array of goods—think cotton, rice, soybeans, feed grains, poultry, eggs, and beef. In the game, you’ll get to visit three unique farm depots near Natchitoches, the Oberlin settlement, and the iconic Oak Alley Plantation. Now, Oak Alley is primarily a historic site and museum in real life, but its stunning beauty makes it a perfect delivery spot in the DLC. I can already imagine rolling up to those majestic oaks with a trailer full of cargo!
Then there’s the timber industry, which took off in the late 1800s and remains a powerhouse in Louisiana today. Tree farming is now the state’s top agricultural activity, with Louisiana ranking among the nation’s leading timber producers. Most of its forests are softwoods, mainly pines, and you’ll feel the weight of that legacy when you visit the two custom timber harvest depots. One’s located near US-156, and the other sits close to DeRidder, right by the Texas border. I’m pumped to navigate those routes and see the sawmills in action!
These custom depots are more than just stops on the map—they’re a love letter to Louisiana’s heritage, blending history and industry into the immersive world of American Truck Simulator. I hope you’re as stoked as I am to haul cargo through the Pelican State! If this has you revved up, make sure to add the Louisiana DLC to your Steam Wishlist. And don’t forget to follow SCS Software on their official social media channels and of course, as usual, also ours, for the latest updates.
Until next time, keep those wheels rollin’ and happy haulin’!
