Exploring the Scania Touring with SCS Software
I recently had the chance to dive into the latest episode of SCS Software’s SCS On The Road series, where their team takes us behind the scenes at the Scania Demo Center in Södertälje, Sweden. This episode, centered around the Scania Touring bus, is a fascinating look at the meticulous process of bringing a vehicle to life in Euro Truck Simulator 2. Here’s a rundown of what SCS Software shared about their tour and why it’s got me excited for what’s coming next.
The visit to the Scania Demo Center was all about capturing the essence of the Scania Touring, a widely used coach seen across Europe, Asia, Australia, and beyond. SCS Software’s team went all-in, recording sounds and scanning every detail of this modern bus to ensure it feels authentic in-game. From the hum of the engine to the sleek interior, they’re working hard to make sure players get an immersive experience when the Coaches DLC eventually rolls out.
One highlight from the episode was the walk-around with Tommy Clasen, a Scania veteran with 44 years of expertise in bus development. He explained how the Scania Touring, a 13.7-meter, three-axle coach, can carry up to 59 passengers (including the driver and guide). It’s built for long-distance routes and tourist trips, with features like a spacious 12-cubic-meter luggage compartment and an optional driver’s sleeping cabin for those long hauls. Tommy also shared that the chassis is crafted in Europe, sent to China for bodywork by Higer, and then shipped back for global distribution—a true international effort.
The Scania Touring isn’t just about capacity; it’s packed with modern comforts and safety features. Adaptive cruise control, automatic braking systems, and blind-spot warnings with LED indicators and seat vibrations make it a driver’s dream. The interior is designed with ergonomics in mind, from a curved dashboard to a low noise level, ensuring comfort during those 4.5-hour driving shifts (yep, the same rules as truck drivers!). As someone who’s taken a few coach trips in the past, I can appreciate how far these vehicles have come—SCS’s enthusiasm for the bus’s modern design really shines through.
What stood out to me was SCS Software’s dedication to authenticity. They collaborated with Scania’s License and Product Manager, Ing-Mari, to ensure the in-game model aligns with the brand’s high standards. The sound crew even strapped microphones to the bus to capture its unique audio profile, which will make driving it in Euro Truck Simulator 2 feel incredibly real.
SCS Software’s gratitude to Scania for their hospitality was evident, and it’s clear this partnership is key to making the Coaches DLC special. The episode gave a sneak peek into the hard work behind the scenes, and I’m already looking forward to cruising through virtual Europe in this sleek Scania Touring.
For those who can’t wait to try the Scania Touring, you’re in luck! You can find the Scania Touring coach as a mod online. Just search “ETS2 Scania Touring” in your browser, and you’ll find plenty of options to bring this awesome bus into your game right now.

I, for one, can’t wait to see how this bus handles in-game—here’s to hitting the road in style!
