Exploring the Revamped Copenhagen in Euro Truck Simulator 2’s Scandinavia DLC

Velkommen til København! As a passionate fan of Euro Truck Simulator 2, I’m thrilled to share the exciting details about the refreshed Copenhagen in the Scandinavia DLC, straight from the talented team at SCS Software. Their recent blog post dives into the massive overhaul of Denmark’s capital, and it’s clear this update is a love letter to both truckers and city enthusiasts alike. Let’s hit the road and explore what’s new!

Copenhagen has been completely reimagined, offering a fresh and immersive driving experience. According to Albert B., one of SCS Software’s map designers, this was no small task: “The city of Copenhagen was my biggest project since I started working for SCS.” The result is a vibrant, detailed rendition of one of Scandinavia’s most iconic cities, blending modern infrastructure with historical charm.

As the gateway to Scandinavia, Copenhagen’s strategic location is highlighted by the Øresund Tunnel, connecting Denmark to Malmö and the broader Scandinavian Peninsula. Albert shares, “I tried to create the illusion of scale and distance, so when you drive by the tunnel or follow the coast in Copenhagen, you can actually spot Malmö on the horizon.” This attention to detail makes every journey visually spectacular.

Copenhagen’s charm lies in its ability to balance its rich history with cutting-edge modernity, and SCS Software has captured this perfectly. Albert notes, “It’s a very modern and yet very historical city, and I did my best to show both sides.” From winding through bustling districts to passing iconic landmarks, the city’s road network reflects this duality. Notably, bike paths are everywhere—whether you’re navigating the city center or heading to an industrial depot—emphasizing Copenhagen’s bike-friendly culture.

One of the standout features of the refresh is the inclusion of Copenhagen’s iconic landmarks. Drivers can expect to see the Copenhagen City Hall, Christiansborg Palace, and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Art Museum, all meticulously recreated. But the real surprise? An amusement park right in the heart of the city, complete with two fully animated rides! Kudos to SCS’s Assets and Animation departments for bringing these to life—perfect for snapping a unique screenshot of your truck.

Architecture enthusiasts will also appreciate the twin residential towers near a challenging underground depot and the innovative waste management plant that doubles as a ski slope overlooking the sea. If you choose to set up your garage in Copenhagen, you’ll be parked right in front of this one-of-a-kind landmark. Just don’t get any wild ideas about hitting the slopes with your rig!

For those with an eye for design, the Danish Architectural Centre is another highlight, showcasing how architecture shapes our lives. It’s a must-see stop for anyone exploring the city.

Copenhagen isn’t just about stunning visuals—it’s a hub of opportunity for truckers. The city offers a variety of depots, including an oil storage facility on a man-made island with breathtaking city views, a food processing plant, logistics centers, recycling facilities, an underground depot, and even access to the cargo section of Copenhagen’s airport. Whether you’re hauling goods or soaking in the scenery, there’s no shortage of work to keep you busy.

Albert’s passion for Copenhagen shines through in his closing words: “I hope players can fall in love with this city just like I did. It has been an honour to work on such a stunning place.” His dedication, combined with the efforts of SCS Software’s talented teams, has transformed Copenhagen into a must-visit destination in Euro Truck Simulator 2.

I can’t wait to fire up my rig and explore the revamped streets of Copenhagen. From its historical landmarks to its modern marvels, this refresh promises an unforgettable driving experience. Stay tuned for more updates from SCS Software and us, and until then, safe travels and bliv ved med at køre lastbil!
