Exploring Brussels in the Euro Truck Simulator 2 Benelux Rework

SCS Software has just dropped an exciting update about their Benelux Rework project for Euro Truck Simulator 2, and it’s taking us straight to the vibrant capital of Belgium—Brussels, my capital! As a huge fan of the game and its immersive world, I couldn’t wait to share my thoughts on this sneak peek into what’s shaping up to be an incredible addition to the ETS2 map.

Brussels, often dubbed the "capital of Europe" for hosting the European Union and other global institutions, is more than just a political hub. SCS Software’s latest post highlights the city’s unique blend of history, culture, and modern logistics, all brought to life along the Senne River. From medieval squares to Art Nouveau architecture and a thriving food scene, Brussels is a city that’s as dynamic in the game as it is in real life.

The rework focuses heavily on the city’s ring road, a bustling network of complex junctions that connect key industrial zones in the Forest and Anderlecht municipalities. These areas are home to a car factory, a chemical plant, and a logistics center, all of which will rely on our trucking skills to keep goods flowing smoothly. I’m already looking forward to navigating these intricate routes and mastering the delivery challenges they bring.

One of the standout features of this rework is the attention to Brussels’ iconic skyline. SCS Software has teased some beautifully recreated landmarks visible from the ring road, including the world-famous Atomium, the Brussels Expo halls, and the eye-catching Centrale électrique de Drogenbos cooling tower, which lights up at night with playful LED colors. These details make every drive feel like a journey through a living, breathing city.

The Schaerbeek municipality also gets some love in this update, with a construction site for us to support and landmarks like the modern Frame media center in the Mediapark complex and the striking Tour Reyers telecommunications tower. These additions show SCS Software’s commitment to capturing the essence of Brussels, blending its modern and historical elements seamlessly.

Honza, the lead on the Benelux Rework project, summed it up perfectly: “We believe that we captured the capital of Europe much more accurately with our focus on logistics and truck deliveries.” I couldn’t agree more—this rework seems to strike the perfect balance between realistic trucking challenges and the charm of Brussels’ unique identity.

As SCS Software reminds us, this project is still a work in progress, so there’s even more to look forward to as development continues. For now, I’m thrilled about the level of detail and care being poured into this rework, and I can’t wait to hit the virtual roads of Brussels myself. If you’re as excited as I am, be sure to follow us on XFacebookTwitchYouTube, and Instagram, or TikTok.

Safe travels, truckers—see you on the roads of Brussels, my capital!
